Military Spouse Essay Contest

• TOPIC: Your unique experience as a military spouse.
• WORD LIMIT/FORMAT: 500 words of less.  PDF or Word.
• SUBMIT: May 1 – 24, 2026.
• WINNERS ANNOUNCED: June 1, 2026.

• ELIGIBILITY: Must be current spouse of service member serving in or retired from the U.S. Military (active duty, national guard, reserves or retired).

ADDITIONAL TERMS

If your essay is selected as a winning entry, an FMWR Staff Member will be reaching out for additional information and coordination for prize distribution. You must be willing and able to pick up the prize at the Defense Supply Center Columbus during the month of June 2026, if necessary. A photo of you, either taken with your permission or submitted by you, will be used along with your first name to promote the Essay Contest on the official FMWR Columbus Facebook and Instagram pages. If your essay is selected as a winning entry, the essay may be shared on the official FMWR Columbus Facebook and Instagram pages. Essay must be free of personally identifiable (PII), sensitive or classified information included.
