How You Can Participate
Wear Purple Wednesdays: Show up for DV support by wearing purple every Wednesday in October.
Attend the Proclamation Signing: On October 6, 2025, DLA FMWR Columbus Family Services Program invites you to attend the Domestic Violence Awareness Month Proclamation Signing. DLA Land and Maritime leadership will sign the proclamation during a short ceremony in the Building 20 Cardinal Room from 11am-12pm. Light refreshments will be served following the ceremony.
Walk Through Our Silent Witness Display: This powerful exhibit honors service members, spouses, and partners who lost their lives to domestic homicide. Life-size silhouettes share their stories and will be displayed throughout the Café 20 Dining Room all month.
Visit Hope Garden: Symbolizing hope and solidarity, purple ribbons will be placed throughout Hope Garden (on the north end of Mission Park) and across the installation. These serve as a reminder that many victims of domestic violence often feel isolated and helpless.
Participate in our PAWS Run/Walk: As part of our Family Fall Fest on October 25, we will be hosting our annual PAWS Run in support of domestic violence prevention. Bring your furry friends and join our free, family-friendly 5K or 1-mile run! Costumes are highly encouraged.
Reporting Options
Military Service Members and Their Families: Two reporting options are available – restricted and unrestricted.
Restricted reporting allows confidential disclosure to a victim advocate, health care provider or chaplain. Victims may receive medical treatment and counseling, without command or law enforcement involvement.
Unrestricted reporting initiates an official investigation. Victims receive medical treatment, counseling, and an official investigation through command and law enforcement.
Civilians: Civilian employees and family members should report suspected or actual domestic abuse directly to law enforcement supervisors, or community support services. Civilians are not eligible for restricted reporting but can receive assistance, advocacy, and referrals through local community resources.
