National Child Abuse Prevention Month (CAPM) is a time to acknowledge the importance of families and communities working together to prevent child abuse and neglect, recommit to the role that we all play in keeping them safe, and to focus on celebrating the lives of children.
During the month of April, the Family Advocacy Program (FAP) will host various activities to help build capacity and increase safety.
Our Military Kids are priority! #AllInToEndChildAbuse
This year's theme is: All In To End Child Abuse!
Local planned activities to build awareness will include:
- Children’s Art Contest Voting, Apr. 6-9 online at www.Facebook.com/MWRSusquehanna
- Children’s Art Contest Awards Ceremony (closed ceremony), Apr. 14 (tentative)
- FAP Greet and Share “Keeping Your Cool When Your Children Challenge You”, Apr. 8
- Virtual Resources available at: www.defensemwr.com/susquehanna
In addition, take a moment to celebrate childhood by visiting one of the Pinwheel Gardens set up outside various buildings throughout the installation.
Blue pinwheels are a national symbol for the healthy childhoods that all children deserve.
Child and Youth Program (CYP) will also be celebrating Month of the Military Child (MOMC) in addition to CAPM during the month of April. Children currently enrolled with CYP will take part in unique activities to build awareness.
These activities include:
- Pinwheel arts and crafts
- Planting a “Pinwheel Garden”
Join us to promote the social and emotional well-being and positive impact on children and families.*Reminder: strict social distancing policies apply, and face coverings are required. Also, please note this event is subject to change and maybe held virtually.
