STRONG B.A.N.D.S. = Balance – Activity – Nutrition – Determination - Strength

STRONG B.A.N.D.S. was created to energize and inspire communities Army-wide about healthy lifestyles that support resiliency.  This promotion provides garrisons with a way to show-case their sports/fitness programs during National Physical Fitness and Sports Month.  The wrist bands symbolize each community’s commitment to a healthier lifestyle.

MWR would like to invite you to participate in the following STRONG B.A.N.D.S events throughout the 5 weeks of this Army sponsored

Week 1:  May 1-7 – May the 4th Be With You – 5k Run on May 4, 2022 at 1130

Week 2:  May 8-14 – Nutrition Lunch & Learn on May 10, 2022 at 1130 on Zoom

        How to Keep Your Flowers Fresh – L&L May 12, 2022 at 1200 in Room 2-1-64

        Weekly Challenge:  Step-Up Challenge

Week 3:  May 15-21 – Family Advocacy Program – Mental Health Information Tables in Washington Street and Champion Street Lobby May 18-25, 2022

                                         Weekly Challenge:  H20 Challenge

Week 4:  May 22-28 – Leisure Travel Q&A Session on May 26, 2022 at 1130 in Room 2-1-64

                                         Weekly Challenge:  Plank Challenge

Week 5:  May 29-June 4 – ODR Basketball Shootout on June 1, 2022 at 1100 in Parking Lot 10

STRONG B.A.N.D.S. Weekly Challenge for May 22-28, 2022: Plank Challenge

This week’s challenge is planks. How long can you last? Do you think you have what to takes to last the longest in HDIFC? We challenge you to start off at 30 seconds and push yourself throughout the week to see if you can do them longer than anyone else that participates in this challenge. You can come down to the MWR Fitness Center (room 2C-B-2) and have one of our staff time you or you can do this on your own time.

STRONG B.A.N.D.S Weekly Challenge for May 15-21, 2022: H2O Challenge

Staying fit is important, but one way to help stay fit is to fill up our bottles with H2O and stay hydrated in the workplace!  This challenge we encourage you to drink 8 bottles of water a day from May 15-21, 2022. Dehydration can easily be mistaken for hunger. Drink a glass of water after each meal to help you stay filled. Proper hydration is also great for your digestive system as it prevents constipation, lightheadedness, and eliminates toxins through the urinary system. Water also promotes healthy skin, hair, and nails. Don’t forget, you can always carry on this habit, so let’s make this a great start to commit and stay fit!

STRONG B.A.N.D.S Weekly Challenge for May 8-14, 2022: Step-It-Up Challenge

SB_AnatomyOfWalkingHere at MWR we want to challenge you to step-it-up!  This weekly challenge will push you to your limits of not just walking 5,000 steps a day…lets push it to 10,000 steps a day starting May 8-14! You are more than welcome to come down to the MWR Fitness center in room 2C-B-2 to walk on the treadmills or ellipticals to complete this challenge. You can also walk the stairs and if it’s nice out feel free to get some fresh air and run or walk around the building. For those busy days, you can also do this challenge at home.

Think you can handle that push to step-it-up? We want to hear your success story! We would love for you to track the number of steps you get daily and send us a picture of it!
